Dove Review

“Before You Say I Do” is a charming love story about a handsome guy who goes back in time to win his true love’s hand in marriage before she commits to a man who will ultimately break her heart. George knows Jane was his true love the moment they met, and most of the time she agrees, except when the time comes to commit to him in marriage. She finds herself terrified of repeating the mistakes of the past.

He refuses to give up on Jane even when she changes her mind about marrying him and he is crushed. If only he could have met her before she married. Unexpectedly his wish comes true when he is transported back in time. He finds himself facing impossible odds as he races time to convince her to fall in love with him and break up with the groom to be. George has just three days to change the course of history before Jane says “I do” to the wrong man.

The plot unfolds beautifully with enough humor to keep viewers watching with anticipation. Marriage is referred to several times as a sacred vow, and the commitment of George to win the heart of his beautiful Jane is charming. Friendship, loyalty and the long-time committed relationship of Jane’s parents is also showcased in this engaging film. Parents are advised to be aware that one of the characters briefly refers to channeling and psychic powers. Alcohol use is seen on occasion as a way to escape a problematic situation, and several instances of an unmarried couple resting together on a couch might be of concern to families. With the cautions heeded above, this likeable film is given the Dove Seal for viewers 12+.
