“Faith of Our Fathers” is a loving tribute to the servicemen and women and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice. This movie features themes of sacrifice and loyalty, and deals with the grief of two grown men who both lost their fathers during the Vietnam War.

The film stars David A.R. White as Wayne Adams, Kevin Downes as John Paul George, and Stephen Baldwin as their fathers’ sergeant, Sgt. Mansfield. The story opens with John Paul George (yes, his father named him after the Beatles) about to marry a wonderful girl named Cynthia (Candace Cameron Bure). But before he takes the plunge, he feels the need to make peace with his past. He never really knew what happened to his dad and how his dad died. The only contact he has is that of Edward Adams, a man his father served with. He dials his number and gets an abrupt and rude response. Undeterred, he travels to the man’s home only to learn that Edward has passed—it was his son Wayne who had answered the phone. Wayne is an off-beat guy who wants to be paid for the letters he has from his father, letters that mentioned John Paul’s dad.

Wayne also knows little of what happened to his father, a common thread between them. The two ultimately decide to travel to Washington, D.C. together to visit The Wall—the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Along the way they learn much more about each other and about their fathers. It is mind-boggling to Wayne when he learns his father, Edward, was led to the Lord by John Paul’s father, Stephen. Ultimately Wayne must make the same choice that his father made: reject or accept Christ.

“Faith of Our Fathers” contains humor, war drama, and this message: nothing can prevent the love of a father still reaching his son even after he’s gone, and that God’s love is also for all time. This is a moving drama and we are pleased to award it our “Faith-Friendly” Seal for ages twelve plus.
