Dove Review

“The Perpetua Story” is an amazing narrative about strength in the face of adversity. The story takes place in Carthage, North Africa, in AD 203. Perpetua has a child and her father, Lucius Vibia, persists in trying to get her to recant her Christian faith so she is not harmed, perhaps even killed, by the Roman government. He even attempts to use the safety of her child against her. But Perpetua stands strong with her friends. When she dreams that she and her friends are martyred and go to be with the Lord, it is obvious her time is short.

This extraordinary story, based on historical facts, is well done and demonstrates what the power of faith can do. The animated feature shows Perpetua with a radiant and serene look on her face just as she is about to meet the sword, after having survived the attack of wild animals! We are pleased to award “The Story of Perpetua” our “Faith-Friendly” Seal for ages twelve and above. This is a good educational tool and will inspire viewers everywhere.
