“Central Intelligence” is very funny at times and fast-paced, but the content in it, especially in the language and nudity categories, is over the top. The movie has a lot of strong language.
The plot features two old high school friends. Bob Stone (Dwayne Johnson) was formerly known as Robert, and his former last name sounded like “weird d*ck.” He is reunited with Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart) 20 years after graduation. Robert had a prank pulled on him in high school, during which his clothes were taken and he wound up naked in front of a youth rally. Calvin gave him his letter jacket to cover himself. Robert was overweight in high school, but now he is all muscle and remembers his friend Calvin fondly. Calvin knows Bob is involved in something but is not sure whether he is on the side of good or evil. Calvin only knows about something called the “Black Badger,” and several intelligence agents are in pursuit of Bob, as they desire certain codes they believe are in his possession. Due to Bob spending the night at Calvin’s place, Calvin also becomes a target, and they dodge gun shots, speeding cars, and have to survive a lot of other risky adventures. Is Bob trying to locate the Black Badger, or is he the Black Badger himself?
Everything is revealed in the end, and several funny moments occur along the way. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are hilarious together, with Hart, as Calvin, being told he is a “snack-sized Denzel.” Calvin can’t get use to his tough old buddy Bob being a hugger and getting teary-eyed at times. Physical humor is part of the movie, too. However, due to the aforementioned language, which includes sexual slang and the use of “GD” and “J,” as well as rear male nudity, we are unable to award the film our Dove Seal.
