When Calls the Heart—Weather the Storm continues in season 5 with this wonderful two-part TV movie, Weather the Storm. This wildly popular TV series continues the drama of Hope Valley and the romance between Jack (Daniel Lissing) and Elizabeth (Erin Krakow).

Upon returning from her honeymoon with Jack, Elizabeth learns that the town is running out of money. The challenge of finding an investor to ensure the bank remains open is a task that both Elizabeth and Abigail take on. The town gets behind them, but a lot of the residents are worried about the future of Hope Valley. Elizabeth continues with her teaching duties, finding ways to instruct her students in both traditional and practical ways. She has her students follow town business people around to learn about what they do, which leads to a few comical incidents. Also, Pastor Frank makes a decision about his future that affects Abigail.

The Dove Take

This is a wonderful series filled with old-fashioned values and faith, based on the books by Janette Oke. The residents of Hope Valley look out for one another and stand up to corrupt people that want to take rather than give. There are minor incidents in the movie, such as a man being bitten by a snake and using a knife to get the venom out. We are delighted to award the film our Dove-Approved All Ages Seal. This wholesome show is popular for a reason—it’s good storytelling with interesting characters.
