Welcome to Sunnyville, the most amazing town in the whole world, where Santa and his helper Mittens the reindeer live and play. It’s Christmas day in Christmas Dance 2. This is one of many animated films that showcase the spirit of caring in Sunnyville, where a community of animals live harmoniously with Santa among a magical setting of giant lollipops and cupcakes scattered around their magical, sunny town. In this film the residents of Sunnyville try to figure out what to give Mittens for Christmas, so they ask their friends for ideas.

Between Santa’s and Mittens’ visits with their friends, they break out into dance with the other characters as a variety of catchy motivational songs play, while all of Sunnyville engages in a dance party! These interludes are a large portion of the show, but Santa and the others get several chances throughout to communicate moral messages about doing good and loving others. In this endearing movie they highlight sharing opinions, appreciation, giving, and friendship, and refer to why it’s important to recognize other’s hard work. Between putting their heads together, the various characters of Sunnyville, including Santa, talk about how it’s ok to be “weird;” to be warm during wintertime; and how we can come up with better ideas when we consider the opinions of our friends.

As usual, Santa and Mittens visit the wise monkey Fritz, who sells 89,000 different flavors of ice cream, so they can have a special treat, and they plan their special Christmas dinner where all their friends are invited. Everyone decides that Mittens is the guest of honor as they present their special gift. Will it be a magical bullhorn, a light up reindeer nose, or hats for Mittens antlers?

Christmas Dance 2 is a wonderful opportunity to sing and dance with children while discussing the important messages about making safe choices, listening to other’s opinions, and appreciating them for who they are. This movie has earned the Dove Seal for All Ages.
