Dove Review

**This review is contributed by Super Channel—a channel dedicated to providing integrity and accountability in today’s entertainment.

Closely-knit families are a pleasure to be a part of.  As you watch Joy discover a happiness with the Lewis family she has never known, it will make you think about your family and the contributions each member makes to create the love and support for all to benefit.  A beautiful Christmas movie to enjoy with everyone at your house and Dove approved for all ages!

Joy (Vanessa Sears) is an aspiring chef working in a big city restaurant where she is under appreciated and undervalued.  But good things are coming!  Her boyfriend Gabe (Colton Royce) has organized a meet-the-family vacation for her without her input .. she is surprised, but anxious to meet his family.  Gabe’s mother, who is campaigning for mayor, has Gabe booked to assist her, so Joy is on her own to get to the Collins’ residence in Vermont in Gabe’s fancy car.

As she helps Gabe pack, she accidentally discovers a beautiful engagement ring in his luggage!  Joy is surprised and we sense a bit of trepidation as she mulls this inevitability in her thoughts.

James Lewis (Jon McLaren) is struggling to save the family maple syrup farm and the family legacy that his great great grandfather started, and his father maintained.  The heavy debt his father left behind is taking a financial toll on the family, but James is determined, despite his brother David (Liam Tobin) insisting they sell.

As Joy heads into the snowstorm bound for Vermont, her car hits an icy patch and she is off the road.  When she phones Gabe to rescue her, he is not helpful and has a press conference to attend to for his mom.  Call a tow truck is his advice…

On an errand run for his mom, James finds Joy stuck in the snowbank and brings her home to the farm.  She is loving the serenity of the country surroundings and grateful to have a place to stay.  James expresses concern that Gabe is not attentive enough to come to Joy’s rescue but Joy makes excuses for him.  As Joy and James explore the maple syrup trees and talk about their dreams, Joy is envious that James seems to have it all.

When young Riley (Ariella Cannon) begs Joy to help save the farm, a small miracle begins to take shape.  As Joy spends time with James and the family, she realizes what she’s been missing in her own life and offers a wonderful and successful solution to their financial troubles that gets the whole family involved and excited. As Joy rethinks her priorities, she realizes how much she loves being in a family where she can be herself and make a positive difference in their daily lives.  As sparks fly between Joy and James, they know they need to follow their hearts and help each other find the Christmas miracle they’ve each been searching for.

The Dove Take:  It takes time to think with your heart.  Allow for the space you need to create the happiness you want and to which you are entitled.  Joy did just that and changed her life to one that truly offered the fulfilment she was desperately searching for.
