A Frozen Christmas Dance: Party like A Reindeer is one of many animated films that showcase Christmas time in Sunnyville, where a community of animals live harmoniously among a magical setting of giant lollipops and cupcakes scattered around their beautiful sunny town. In this movie Santa wants to take Mittens the reindeer’s father, Mr. Buttons, on a sleigh ride, but they can’t find him anywhere. As Santa and Mittens visit the townsfolk, they ask them all if they have seen Mr. Buttons, and many of them have – Santa and Mittens just keep missing him – as he’s always one step ahead of them.
Between Santa’s visits he breaks out into dance with the other characters as a variety of catchy motivational songs play, with all of Sunnyville engaged in a dance party in this high-quality production. These interludes are a large portion of the show, but Santa and the others get several chances throughout to communicate moral messages about doing good and loving others. In this cute movie they highlight Mr. Buttons’ character from the information they get about what he’s been up to right before Santa and Mittens arrive. It turns out that Mr. Buttons has been helping others in some way. He is always doing something good and kind for others.
Sunny the sun eventually finds Mr. Buttons, as he approaches Santa and Mittens to tell them that he’s been looking for them everywhere. They all have a good laugh and a group hug, and Santa tells Mr. Buttons about his magical sleigh ride surprise. The townsfolk all helped to look for Mr. Buttons and the message is conveyed that as Christmas approaches, everyone can have a very happy and joy-filled holiday as long as we are all looking out for one another and taking care of each other. This hopeful film is a wonderful opportunity to sing and dance with children while discussing the important messages about helping others.
