Adam Sandler (Deeds) is an all-around nice guy. He is honest and caring toward everyone, as well as warm and giving. He is well loved in his hometown, where he demonstrates kindness to people in various ways. When approached and informed that his uncle left him $40 billion, he is unphased. He does, however, go along to New York to check things out. Despite having unlimited funds, Deeds continues to enjoy people and also enjoy life in general. He is intelligent, yet simple, and overall an enjoyable character to watch. He is happy to discover that his uncle was also a good guy who tried to always do the right thing. When Deeds finds that he had been lied to by Winona Ryder (Babe), he is hurt and disillusioned. He donates the entire $40 billion to charity and returns to his former life. Babe is affected by all of this and is forced to look at her own life and “who she is.” In the end, the greedy “bad guy” loses, and the forgiven Babe follows Deeds back to his small town with a happily-ever-after ending.
