“Stand and Deliver” is the great story of a teacher who refused to give up on his inner-city students. Escalante is a very intriguing man who knows just what to do in order to get through to his students. He is firm, but not unfair. He is smart, but not condescending. He gives his students, who are either in a gang or on their own, a person to look up to and to be stable. Escalante gives the kids something to strive for and he proves to them that they are better than what everyone tells them they are.
