Somewhere on a little boy’s wish list toward the top would read the following, “I wish my dad didn’t have to work and could stay home all day with me.” In “Daddy Day Care”, Eddie Murphy plays Charlie, a businessman who loses his job with his friend Phil (Jeff Garlin) on a horrible kids cereal idea. Unable to afford a day care for his son, Ben, and his wife at work, Charlie must stay at home. Being a big-headed male, Charlie drags Phil into the idea of starting a day care center at his home for extra money. With the help of an assistant, Marvin (Steve Zahn), they turn an almost disaster into a quality child care facility.
Many of Murphy’s humorous antics are prevalent in this film. It offers the humor of three men attempting to handle child care, but while keeping their ego uplifted. The movie is mostly clean-only a word or so which could be offensive (butthead). The only other thing that may be offensive is some of the “bathroom humor”, as some of the kids struggle with being potty trained. Overall, this movie is a good family film- it even has a nice moral story to it. I recommend “Daddy Day Care” for fun family comedy.
