This boiler plate Harrison Ford action film has Ford again fighting the bad guys in gutsy fashion with grit and determination. Jack Stanfield (Ford) tries to outwit his family’s kidnappers to save their lives and his reputation. Much like his character in “Air Force One”, Harrison, as Stanfield, uses all the available items at his disposal to save his family from certain death. Just like the President in “Air Force One”, Stanfield loves his wife and kids and would do anything to save them.
Unfortunately for the family audience, the foul language and graphic violence prevent Dove from recommending “Firewall” as family-friendly. Like many films that Harrison Ford is in, the language and violence are a bit too graphic for the family crowd.
Another problem with the film is the character development of Stanfield’s secretary Sandra (Beverly Breuer). The way she acted throughout the entire film made me wonder if an alternate ending either had been made or had been contemplated. If not, many of the scenes between her and Stanfield were not realistic and didn’t add up.
Those who enjoy Harrison Ford and his similar film formulas will also like “Firewall”, but just remember you’ve seen it all before.
