This is an imaginative movie which is a good one for the holidays. The film starts off a bit slowly, with the dialog lacking wit and although there’s nothing snappy about it, when the museum comes to life at night for Larry, the new security guard, the movie takes off and is quite fun to watch. The special effects are nicely done and it is hard to dislike a movie which includes such historical figures as Teddy Roosevelt, Attila the Hun, Lewis and Clark and even cavemen and a T-Rex. There is a lot of action and we would like to approve it for the entire family-however, with a caveman’s hair caught on fire, and several fights we are approving it for ages twelve and above. It might be a bit intense for kids under twelve. There is a comment about evolved beings being greater than the monkey in the movie, so some people will not like that. But overall the film is funny and creative. It includes an irresponsible father taking on responsibility and becoming a hero to his son which we commend. We award the movie five doves.
