A Strangers Heart

"A Stranger's Heart" stars Samantha Mathis as Callie, a workaholic magazine writer who must undergo a heart transplant operation. When her procedure is successful, Callie becomes a new woman, literally. Although she tries to reclaim her old life and resume the hectic pace she had become accustomed to, she finds that her work no longer consumes her the way it once did. Now, instead, she finds herself strangely drawn to a young girl who happens to be the heart donor's orphaned daughter. She also finds romance--for the first time in her life--with a fellow heart transplant patient, played by Peter Dobson.

Dove Review

The acting is exceptional in this film, which is one of the film’s strong points. The two leads, Samantha Mathis as Callie, and Peter Dobson as Jasper, are effective and have a nice chemistry. The story itself speaks out on behalf of the need for donors for heart transplants, but it is the story itself that captivates the viewer. Although the viewer can see the unlikely romance between Callie and Jasper happening before it does, the storytelling is well done. The changes the characters undergo are nicely done and the little girl, who draws the attentioin of the couple, is a delight.

There is an implied night spent between the two leads but it is not seen on screen. The ending is well done and speaks highly of the values of marriage and family. Due to some of the mature themes, we recommend this film for agest twelve and above and award it our Dove Seal.
