Dove Review

“When I Find the Ocean” is a sweet story used to highlight a dark issue that victimizes numerous children. The film exposes the consequences of child abuse and praises Lily’s friend who finally tells adults what’s happened to Lily. Despite Lily’s struggles, the childlike innocence of Lily is a nostalgic reminder of the past when happiness was found in simplicity.

The great outdoors serve as a beautiful backdrop for a story that emphasizes the importance of survival skills and animal care. The movie also glances into history by addressing issues associated with the Civil Rights Movement. In addition, the film reveals the various stages of grieving over the loss of a loved one, and at times, God is acknowledged on a surface level through the role of a preacher as well as through prayers and dialog.

“When I Find the Ocean” is a good story. The charming southern scenery enhances the authenticity of the plot. The viewers will find themselves wrapped up in the story…rooting for the good guys. It should be noted that families will want to consult the content listing below as there are some issues which they need to be aware of. We award this film five Doves.
