Hermie and Friends: Stanley the Stinkbug goes to Camp

There's someone new coming to the garden's Summer Camp this year, and, well, he has a problem. He stinks. But that's what stinkbugs do. So, when Stanley arrives at Camp-Bug-a-Boo, he creates a...well, stink. Everyone tries their best to put up with the unusual odor, but things don't go so well. But then God helps the summer camp to realize that the reason Stanley stinks is because he's afraid. And the thing he is most afraid of is others not liking him and accepting him the way he is. Our garden friends soon learn that God created each of us for very special reasons and that, even though Stanley is different, they need to show him love and be his friend.

Dove Review

Max and Hermie have a little discussion regarding the differences we all have. Stanley goes to camp and meets other garden friends. He develops a little problem that is really hard for the other campers to handle. He gets nervous and scared and he emits an odor. Then he stinks. The other campers try to be his friend no matter what. Then there is a large creature who comes to camp and tries to hurt a fellow camper. Stanley saves the day because the creature runs away from the smell.

God talks to Stanley and tells him if he has more confidence in himself he won’t smell as often. So Stanley prays and finds the courage to have more faith in himself. Stanley and the campers sing the song, I THINK I STINK. This is a great story for all ages. This DVD receives the Dove “Family- Approved Seal”.
