Every Sunday from August to the end of February people gather in front of their televisions to watch professional football. As they sit there, do they ever wonder about these athletes; where they came from, or what journey they may have taken to get to where they are today? This is an inspirational story based on the life of Michael Oher, who was a first round pick in the 2009 draft and plays for the Baltimore Ravens.
This story tells of a young man who was homeless, taken from his mother and family at a young age because of her addictions. At the age of 17 he gets the chance to attend a Christian school which is better than those he attended before. He is found roaming the streets in the cold and taken in by a well–to-do Christian family who takes the time to find out who this strange, quiet young man really is. The Touhy family aids Michael with his studies, influences his life and encourages him to improve. Along the way Michael also helps this family look within themselves to change the world around them. Together as a family they overcome racial differences that only other people see. Michael’s story is one of the most uplifting and inspiring stories that I have seen in a while. This movie is encouraging, inspirational and heartwarming. At times it will have you laughing and at other times it shows the serious side of a young man’s life. We are proud to award “The Blind Side” the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages 12 and over.
