Daniels Lot

Daniel Carr (Dominick Shaw) was sure his life could not get worse. After all, he was in a dead-end job, his wife's real estate business was non-existent; they argued constantly and the one thing that everyone told him would be the answer to all of his problems, he could not do. His late father bequeathed him a valuable piece of commercial property while making him promise to not sell it until the time was right...but his father gave him no clue as to when that time might be. Then his life did get worse. He lost his job, prompting his wife to decide she could no longer handle the pressures of their marriage. But, a chance meeting with a local pastor (Emmy-award winning Gary Burghoff) convinces Daniel he must be obedient to God's plan for his life. The result of the obedience proves that God's plan is our purpose.

Dove Review

This is a powerful story about a man who puts God first even when it appears to be crazy to other people, including his wife. Daniel Carr (Dominick Shaw) finds himself in a mess when his wife makes fun of him as he watches Christian TV, and on top of this he struggles to pay his bills and has to explain to his boss why he is continually late for work. The problem is his wife Christy is making it difficult for him to get to work on time and then blames him when he points it out. When Daniel refuses to sell a lot his father left to him and decides to build a cross on the lot, because “God told me to” his wife really believes he is losing it! On top of this, she begins having an affair with a married man.

However, Daniel sticks to his guns with the help of Pastor Mahoney (Emmy-award winning actor Gary Burghoff) and soon he learns what happens when a man waits on God.

The story is powerful and real-life troubles are portrayed. We are recommending the film for ages twelve plus due to the mature themes and a wife cheating on her husband, however things turn around by film’s end and this movie is ultimately about God’s forgiveness and second chances. It also includes the theme of loving your spouse during the hard times. The film features a wonderful song by a child called, “Daddy, God Smiles Down on You.” We are pleased to award this film our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal.
