Dove Review

This delightful film deals with family issues like parenthood and divorce in a light but positive way. Popper (Jim Carrey) is estranged from his father, who traveled incessantly when he was a child. When Popper himself grows up, his job also becomes more important than his children, and his children, who spend most of their time with his ex-wife, see him only when he has time for them. Through the course of the movie, Popper begins to see that his children – both the human ones and the penguins – are much more important than his work. Additionally, his new, more compassionate spirit allows him to rekindle a romance with his ex-wife. As he gains respect for the importance of family, he also begins to respect history and tradition. While his initial goal as a real estate agent is to acquire and tear down a historic building in Central Park, his newfound values convince him that rebuilding and restoring is greater than destroying and purging.

We are pleased to award Mr. Poppers Penguins our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages 12 and over.
