Wow! The audience I screened this film with cheered several times during the movie and then when the credits began to roll. It really is THAT good. All of the Marvel heroes are given proper screen time including Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. Even Loki gets his fair share of screen time.
Without plot spoiling, Loki has discovered a source of energy that can guarantee him an endless supply of power for war. His plan to succeed involves an alien race and using the Avengers without their knowledge. However, they are a bit too sharp for that and Loki soon finds he has his hands full as the film reaches a feverish crescendo of action and gives a powerful pay-off to those who have been waiting for weeks and months for the movie’s opening. The theater was jam packed with people and many were turned away. This fantasy epic adventure is going to rule at the box office for awhile after it opens.
The good news is that we are able to award the film our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve plus. There are several violent scenes although comparatively little blood and of course it is in the “super hero” genre. There are some moments of language too but it’s not over-the-top. The movie has a bit of everything which makes for a fun film experience including a solid storyline, witty dialog and great action sequences. In one scene one of the characters is pointed out to be like a “god” and another character replies, “I’m pretty sure God doesn’t dress like that!” Make sure and look for the scene in which Loki boasts to the Hulk that he (Loki) is a demi-god and a powerful force to be reckoned with. Let’s just say that the Hulk is a force to be reckoned with too.
We are most pleased to award this movie five Doves, our best rating. Go ahead and see “Marvel’s The Avengers” soon. These heroes will make your day!
