G.I. Joe: Renegades Season One, Volume 1

When a spy mission against Cobra Industries goes awry, a group of young G.I. JOE team members is forced to hit the road as fugitives. Now the team members — DUKE, SCARLETT, ROADBLOCK, TUNNEL RAT, RIPCORD, BREAKER and SNAKE EYES — must use their wits and elite training to prove their innocence to the world before being caught by the authorities, the COBRA organization or, worse yet, another elite military team called the Falcons.

Dove Review

Spectacular animation showcases the characters that make up a rag- tag band of men and women who think of themselves as “ordinary joes” in “GI Joe Renegades Season One”. Featured are a colorful cast of soldiers- Duke, Tunnel Rat, Snake Eyes, Roadblock and Scarlett. They become fugitives on the run after being accused of crimes they did not commit while trying to expose the evil deeds of others. This is a fast-paced animated adventure series which weaves wit, humor, military strategy as well as a little compassion and tenderness as this eclectic group of “Joes” try to clear their name and protect innocent citizens.

Themes of military action, lasers, swords, knives, guns and fist fights are seen throughout this film as animated violence. However, there also grand moments where the characters consistently put the needs of others above their own with loyalty and friendship exhibited by each member of the team. While we do not recommend this for young children because of the violence and intense fight scenes, those in the 12+ set (as well as a few parents) will enjoy this action-packed DVD and we are pleased to award this movie the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve and above.
