Princess Cai, of the fun and friendly kingdom of the Wee Dragons, and her best friend Tinkertoes are alerted by fellow dragons Boyle and Big Gurt that danger encroaches, and as they warn the king, he vanishes before their eyes. The bitter and vengeful Wee Dragon named Blister has cast the age-old wicked Wyburn spell on Durwin the giant dragon in an effort to take over the world one kingdom at a time, and now the king of the Wee Dragons has been kidnapped by the king of the Goblins, who is working with Blister for greater personal power.
It turns out that love is an added incentive for Boyle to succeed in saving the kingdom, for he has been admiring princess Cai from afar and hopes to pursue her hand in marriage. He plans to rescue the king himself in an effort to show him how worthy he is of Cai. The dedicated sidekicks of these main characters are adorable and help bring life and humor to this story with their quirky personalities.
All the characters have a slightly stilted, almost claymation effect, especially when they speak, but the backdrops are somewhat impressive. The Hobbit seems to be the inspiration for the series of adventures and obstacles that accompany the dragons’ goal of restoration through mystical and sometimes magical properties. Indeed, they visit a variety of kings throughout the world and elicit help from a tree that is a sage, a mushroom with powers, and a riddling ogre, and they discover within themselves the strength and power they need to undo the wrongs committed, rescue the king, and restore world order.
The Dove Take
Ironically, the “Crystal Light” the rescuers are searching for turns out not to be what the seekers need. The truth lies within them, and their efforts on behalf of others bring them the very thing they were searching for to begin with: wisdom through adventure. We can see that right choices lead to victory and even greater blessings than we can imagine.
We award Wee Dragons the Dove-Approved All Ages Seal.
