Knights Tale, A – Edited

Inspired by "The Canterbury Tales," this is the story of William, a young squire with a gift for jousting. After his master dies suddenly, the squire hits the road with his cohorts, Roland and Wat. On the journey, they stumble across an unknown writer, Chaucer. William, lacking a proper pedigree, convinces Chaucer to forge genealogy documents that will pass him off as a knight. With his newly-minted history in hand, the young man sets out to prove himself a worthy knight at the country's jousting competition and finds romance along the way.

Dove Review

A Knight’s Tale was definitely the most modern movie about ancient times I have seen. The movie is set in medieval times, but in one of the very first scenes everyone is in the jousting arena chanting Queen’s hit song, “We Will Rock You.” It was really funny but it just didn’t seem to fit the whole setting of the movie. Heath Ledger is in this movie, and I don’t believe that they could have found a better actor to play the cocky knight-in-love role. And his love interest, Laura Fraser, was great also. There are hardly any objectionable elements in this movie. The entire film is built around the concept of medieval sports, mainly jousting, so you do see some knights getting smacked with lances and whatnot, but there is nothing graphic shown. There is a kiss between the two love birds, but once again there is nothing beyond that. It’s a great movie.
