What a terrific film and with a message to boot! This adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ tale of the Lorax, a guardian of the trees, is awesomely animated with terrific 3D and it carries an important environmental reminder that we should take care of the trees and our land.
We follow the story through the eyes of Ted (Zac Efron), a teen boy who has a crush on a girl named Audrey (Taylor Swift), and when he learns that she wants to see a real live tree for her birthday, he sets out to find a way to make it happen. The businessman of the town, Mr. O’Hare, wants to keep seeds and trees away so as to ensure that people will rely on his air for them to live. It’s made him a nice little profit.
This movie contains a lot of slapstick and fantasy violence but clearly reveals how important friends are to travel the road with through the journey of life. The characters are memorable, the colors bright and you’ve never seen a character quite like the Lorax (Danny DeVito). We are pleased to award our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal to this film for ages twelve plus, due to one utterance of a strong word. Let the adventures begin!
