“Snow Queen” was an original Danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson that shows the fight between good and evil. The Snow Queen has put the deep freeze on everyone and everything she can. But to her surprise there are two children that can be her downfall. Kai and Gerta are the offspring of one of the magic mirror makers that has the power to make the mirror show who you really are.

Kai and Gerta are in an orphanage and do not know that they are related. But when the Snow Queen’s troll takes them, they find out that they are brother and sister. The adventure to the evil queen’s castle separates them but it is Gerta that learns the truth that will defeat the queen.

This is a charming fairy tale that has been told to many generations and is brought to life in this wonderful animated DVD. It also tells of some important lessons about not stealing, being your real self, giving someone a chance and that it is okay to be different. It also makes the point that hatred only brings about unhappiness. We award this movie the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for all ages.
