The Cosby Show – Box Set: Season 7

The Cosby Show appeared on NBC from 1984 to 1992, becoming one of the most popular programs in the history of television. The Cosby Show depicted a close-knit and prosperous African-American family (The Huxtables) that dwelled in New York City. Dr. Heathcliff (OB-GYN) and Clair (attorney) Huxtable were a happily married, dual-profession couple with aspirations of raising their five children in an uplifting, positive environment. The Cosby Show held TV's #1 slot for a record five consecutive years (1985 to 1990) and stayed in the Top 20 shows for all eight seasons it was on NBC.

Dove Review

This season leads off with another addition to the Huxtable household, Cousin Pam. The humor continues over poor Cliff gaining children to his household rather than losing them. Cliff is not the only one lamenting over the addition as Rudy once again loses her chance at her own room. Cousin Pam is new to the Huxtable rules after living a more free urban life. She also struggles with a boyfriend pushing her to heat up their relationship. Birth control is discussed and she does consider premarital sex, but after a conversation with Claire, Pam decides she is worth the wait. This storyline was one of the more mature and serious I have seen in “The Cosby Show” and I really liked the way it was written. Not only does Pam consider the choices and decide against doing anything, but she also walks away after her boyfriend, Slide, continues to pressure her.

Seriousness aside, the fun continues as Martin and Denise look for a place of their own, Cliff continues to try to eat on the wild side, and Theo juggles a new love while trying to help a friend and get on the Dean’s list.
