The Cosby Show – Box Set: Season 8

The Cosby Show appeared on NBC from 1984 to 1992, becoming one of the most popular programs in the history of television. The Cosby Show depicted a close-knit and prosperous African-American family (The Huxtables) that dwelled in New York City. Dr. Heathcliff (OB-GYN) and Clair (attorney) Huxtable were a happily married, dual-profession couple with aspirations of raising their five children in an uplifting, positive environment. The Cosby Show held TV's #1 slot for a record five consecutive years (1985 to 1990) and stayed in the Top 20 shows for all eight seasons it was on NBC.

Dove Review

It was bittersweet to watch the last season of “The Cosby Show.” As always, I enjoyed the laughs and the characters, but knowing this was the end made me wish it could have gone longer. Once again the season started in high gear when Sondra and Elvin are left “homeless” while waiting to move into their new house. Of course Cliff starts to think he may never get rid of any of his children which is just too funny. Viewers see Rudy come into her teen years and push against authority. Her comical dream shows a touch of envy for Olivia who seems to have the adults wrapped around her cute little finger. Then Rudy and her friends sneak off to a 16 and older club; viewers also see a more experienced Cliff and Claire send secret chaperone’s.

Of course, the series finale was a tear-jerker as well as a comedy. Theo finally graduates from college and Cliff’s pride in his son is in high gear as he invites more and more people to the limited seating graduation. Viewers get a flashback of a young Theo people thought may not graduate from high school let alone college, and Cliff and Claire have a farewell dance. Don’t worry, I have left a couple surprises for the viewers to enjoy as I have enjoyed watching the Huxtables.
